Bear and Travellers Fable

Reading fables are part of my childhood. When I was still a small kid, our teachers always tell us about a lot of stories, especially fables. Sometimes, they would let us read it aloud and like it. I really miss those old times. because of this, I decided to read some of those fables again until I came across something. A fable that caught my attention. The fable is simple but has very good message. I want to share it to you. It is about the two travelers and a bear.

TWO MEN were traveling together, when a Bear suddenly met them on
their path. One of them climbed up quickly into a tree and
concealed himself in the branches. The other, seeing that he
must be attacked, fell flat on the ground, and when the Bear came
up and felt him with his snout, and smelt him all over, he held
his breath, and feigned the appearance of death as much as he
could. The Bear soon left him, for it is said he will not touch
a dead body. When he was quite gone, the other Traveler
descended from the tree, and jocularly inquired of his friend
what it was the Bear had whispered in his ear. "He gave me this
advice," his companion replied. "Never travel with a friend who
deserts you at the approach of danger."

Misfortune tests the sincerity of friends.

Childhood Memories - Chickens

Recalling my childhood once again. I've been recently thinking about the past lately so I decided to share this memory with you. When we still live in our province, I remember people taking care of different domestic animals like dogs, cats and chickens. Chickens are very common in a our province. Anyway, it is a place near the farm so it wouldn't be that strange. Chickens are good runners and has great agility which make it hard to catch one. You would probably run for a very long time just to get one. However, people there thought of a brilliant idea. They set a trap made of iron nets that resembles a basket. Under the iron net are corn kernels, which serves as a bait. The opening was provided by putting a wooden stick on the mouth of the basket. The wooden stick is tied to a rope which when pulled closes the basket. I created a simple illustration of this trap below. Enjoy! (Click here for 9gag.com link)

Beauty of the Northern Lights

Photo from: http://en.wikipedia.org
To start the year with something beautiful, I posted a photo of an aurora borealis. This wonderful photo is taken    from an article and is shot as it shines above Bear Lake, Alaska. They really look like green curtains in the northern sky. It is said that auroras, like the one  above are caused by the collision of charged particles from solar winds and particles in the Earth's atmosphere. This collision causes the wonderful scenery. It can only be seen near the poles because of Earth's magnetosphere. I hope you enjoy it.
